Tony Robbins wasn’t kidding when he said, “The only people without problems are those in cemeteries.” Each and everyone of us has a problem of some sort. It may be that your problem is small or maybe, you are in denial of how big it actually is. I once had a client tell me he had no problems. As the session progressed, not only was he an alcoholic, occasional heroine user, had to have sex with the lights on, was molested at the age of 15 by a cousin but he treated women like they were rags. However, he believed he had no problems at all because he was filthy rich. He was the CEO for a huge company and he earned a nice 7 figure salary. Well, buddy do I have news for you. You my dear have a PROBLEM. Often times, problems come in disguise. That’s right. They dress up in couture clothing and when they get exposed, there’s nothing couture about it. We think that if we forget about the actual problem, in some magical way, it will just go away. Well, it wont. Problems don’t go away, they get bigger. Like a BIG Mac from McDonald’s that’s been super sized. You know what I’m talking about. Those very greasy, unhealthy burgers some of us like to eat. That’s exactly the way some of our problems present themselves if we opt to ignore them. But, what if we simply look at our problems as opportunities? What if we look at the positives of our problems, will we find a lesson hidden within? I always say that every problem is a gift. Not the kind that comes wrapped in a Tiffany box, but they are a gift nonetheless. If you look closely you will see that there are a lot of lessons you can learn from each and every problem you have. Perhaps, it’s time for you to become aware how the problem got there in the first place. Taking responsibility and being accountable for our roles in our problems is the first step.
